Mental Health First Aid Training

Course Aims

  • To enable trainees to gain a Mental Health First Aid (England) award in Adult - Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
  • Spot the early signs of a possible mental health issue
  • Feel confident in how to offer and provide initial help to a person experiencing a mental health issue
  • Preserve life where a person may be at risk of harm to themselves or others
  • Help to stop mental health from getting worse and to give hope to someone who needs guidance
  • Promote recovery of good mental health
  • Guide someone towards appropriate treatment and other sources of help
  • Understand the stigma that exists around mental health
  • Provide help on a first aid basis

This cable and pipe avoidance courses will teach you to use detection equipment to safely locate before you excavate and so avoid dangerous and costly service strikes. Competence training in the use of cable locators is widely recognised as one the key steps to reducing cable strikes, indeed  recognise this and recommend not only the use of cable locators but also training for operatives. This theoretical and highly practical programme is delivered by Brian Stretton (a trainer who works closely with Central Networks) and covers:


·    Safe digging practices
·    CDM 2007
·    Health & safety recommendations - HSG47
·    Plans & drawings
·    Use of cable locators – theory & practical
·    Using locators – practical training 
·    Assessment including multiple choice questionnaire

This course is taken from one of CITB, Site Safety Plus suite of courses and is highly recognised within the industry. It provides an introduction to health and safety, welfare and environmental issues for those requiring an understanding of their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will provide a sound knowledge base to enable them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site. It’s also an excellent precursor for the five day SMSTS course. Covering a range of subjects to include:
• Health and Safety at Work Act and relevant regulations
• Specific site issues, which include such topics as work at height
• Tool box talks
• Control of subcontractors
• Health issues

Temporary Works Supervisor Training

One Day Course  - To provide potential and existing Temporary Works Supervisors the knowledge to complement their experience to carry out thier duties in compliance with Health & Safety responsbilities, British Standards and recgonsied good practice.
